“Let it snow” isn’t a phrase most often uttered in Central Florida, but on the evening of December 4, the season’s most-anticipated event took a winter-wonderful turn. From surprise flurries, to sounds of the season, to unique character encounters – magical moments abounded at the 2013 Disney Internships and Programs Winter Formal: Blizzard Bash.
Hosted at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the signature event boasted a little something for everyone. Savory eats, including a full buffet dinner, and unlimited nachos and chocolate fondue pleased the palate. Winter-inspired décor accents, like park benches, streetlights, snowdrifts and more were scattered across the room, inspiring a warm glow for all who entered in. The dance floor was even transformed into a chilly paradise, complete with falling snow and sparkling lighting!
Adding to the frosty fun, was an array of meet-and-greet opportunities, featuring character favorites like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Tinkerbell, Periwinkle, Genie, Jafar, Snow Queen, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and Hades. The combination of classic friends and villainous foes yielded a flurry of photographic memories and character-filled conversations.
The evening also presented one last opportunity to donate a new, unwrapped toy to the Toys for Tots drive. (Worth mentioning: 330 toys were collected by Disney Internships & Programs participants for this year’s effort.)
All-in-all, the evening affair was both merry and bright. Congratulations and best wishes to our graduating participants – we know you’re going to accomplish great things!
