On November 27, Disney Internships and Programs participants working at the Walt Disney World Resort were invited to journey once upon a time, just past the second star to the right and straight through till morning, at the 2012 Disney Internships and Programs Winter Formal. Bearing the theme “Imagination Celebration – Where Neverland meets Wonderland,” the evening event, held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, attracted a crowd of more than 4,600 participants – a record for event attendance.

Simply put: A treasure trove of surprises were nestled within the expansive ballroom space for event attendees. In the dead center of the room, our favorite Disney DJs – DJ Charles and DJ Vitor – were elevated onto a whimsical platform, and as the evening progressed, they teamed up to host the ultimate dance party. The evening’s anthems ranged from boy band gold to an encore of the ever-popular “Gangnam Style” by PSY.

Scattered around the room were what seemed to be an endless supply of nachos and chocolate-fondue inspired treats, which, incredibly, were all-you-care-to-enjoy. A gourmet dinner buffet, featuring penne and bow tie pasta, rotisserie-style chicken, herb foccacia bread and roasted red skin potatoes was also served.

Last, but not least – the ballroom’s corners were adorned with gorgeous set pieces, depicting scenes from the Disney/Pixar film “Up,” as well as Walt Disney’s “Peter Pan,” “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty” and “Alice in Wonderland.” Throughout the evening, beloved characters, including Alice, the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook, Cinderella, Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Carl and Russell posed for photos and made magical moments with everyone they encountered.

Congratulations to our extraordinary Disney Internships and Programs participants – it’s been a great semester! We’re so grateful for your enthusiasm, expertise and meaningful contributions, and we had a blast celebrating with you!
