The Season of the Force is upon us! What better way to celebrate the most-anticipated franchise of the year than experience the new Star Wars-themed experiences at Disneyland Park?

As throngs of people made their way through Disneyland on a toasty Sunday afternoon, it’s apparent that a majority of them were there with a mission in mind: to experience the brand-new themed attractions in Tomorrowland.

How can one tell, you ask? Hundreds of people (including myself) were draped in Star Wars shirts and a good majority of them were paired with Disneyland-exclusive BB-8 sipper cups in hand!

As you make your way through the crowded walkways of Tomorrowland, one thing is absolute; the Season of the Force is definitely in full-effect (cue Star Wars theme song).

Star Wars Launch Bay

Filled with young Padawans running around enthusiastically, the Star Wars Launch Bay without a doubt fascinated children and older folks alike. While checking out replica movie props, rare Star Wars collections, and costumes you may purchase (for a couple thousand Galactic Credit Standard), you’ll hear the “oohs” and “aahs” of Star Wars fans across the room. But who wouldn’t after seeing these up close?

Enter the Light Side or choose to join the Dark Side of The Force, both galleries will deliver. But if those alone leave you wanting more, you can kick your experience up a notch by meeting two ambassadors from both sides of the force: Darth Vader and Chewbacca.

Although wait lines ranged from 60 to 70 minutes, most fans were waiting patiently with big grins plastered across their faces…no wait is too long when you get to meet your favorite iconic characters from a galaxy far, far away.

Hyperspace Mountain

In the words of Master Yoda, “Do or do not, there is no try.” And do they did, as hundreds of people made their way to the most talked about classic ride repurposed for the #SeasonoftheForce.

You will have to brace yourself for this one. For those who didn’t get a chance to grab a Fastpass (which run out shortly after park opening) wait lines were around 90 minutes to 120 minutes on a Sunday night. (And yes, totally worth it!)

This ride takes you on a galactic adventure in your little starship complete with themed music blaring in your ears. You’ll battle your way across the galaxy dodging blaster bullets in blazing Space Mountain speed. And for the grand finale—loud applause that reverberates through the room once the ride commences from your fellow starship riders!

*Special Disney Interns Treat*

As a special treat, Disney Interns were invited to a Hyperspace Mountain event during park after-hours. We were able to ride-through once with the lights off, and once with the lights on.

Fun fact from some Disney Imagineering interns: The ride itself is usually the “slowest” in the morning since it takes time for the oil to grease up all the tracks, so by the end of the day when the oil is settled, you’ll zoom through the ride faster than usual.

We were definitely zooming through there all right, and it was a really cool experience to be able to see the inner workings of one of Disneyland’s most-beloved rides.

Star Wars: Path of the Jedi

Join a pack of Jedi Knights in watching a series of clips from all the films in a 4D experience. You’ll learn about Luke Skywalker’s journey in becoming a Jedi, and see an exclusive clip from the new film that will amp up your excitement for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

The classic Star Tours attraction that takes you on a 3D motion-simulated space flight still awed people as if it were a new attraction.

Special Themed Food & Beverage

Star Wars fan or not, plenty of people still wanted to get their hands on the Disneyland-exclusive BB-8 sipper cups. Whether your taste buds choose the Dark side or the Light side, you’ll definitely leave full and energized.

From long wait lines, to packed crowds of people, one thing is evident — the power of The Force is too strong to stop anyone from experiencing epic encounters, alluring attractions and culinary adventures.

Indeed, The Force has awakened.
