Shining, Shimmering, Splendid Night of Stars Fall 2015

Cast Members by day and spectacular performers by night, Disney Internships and Programs participants took the stage Nov. 10 for the Night of Stars Talent Competition. Held at House of Blues Orlando with 23 acts, talents ranged from gorgeous vocals, baton twirling, Japanese performance art, hip-hop, sign language, gymnastics and more. The best of the best shared their skills after landing a coveted spot in the show. All areas of the globe were represented, with performers from the United States, Japan, Australia, Mexico, to name a few.

Our beloved 2015/2016 Walt Disney World Ambassadors, Caitlin Busscher and Nathaniel Palma, set the stage for each performer to make his or her dazzling debut. The comic relief was certainly not lacking, as Carlossa Partiay, a.k.a. “CP”, riled up the audience with her nosy questions and playful banter. Many audience members were pulled up on stage to be put to the test with trivia questions as well.

Among the outstanding talent, winners were chosen by a panel of judges comprised of Disney executives on the basis of skill level and audience appeal. Here are our winners and highlighted acts!

Best Instrumental: Bec and Omar

Bec and Omar were last to perform, but certainly not least. Omar played the guitar and the two joined forces in a catchy pop medley that had the audience tapping their feet.

Best Dance: Jun

Jun rivaled the animatronics seen in Disney Parks, as he brought a mechanical doll to life through his intense and creative dance moves.

Best Specialty Act: Emily

Emily’s performance with her glimmering hula hoop was fit for a king – king of the jungle, that is. The audience was mesmerized by her moves during the song “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from The Lion King.

Best Vocalist: Ansley Marie

This girl has certainly got a set of pipes on her! She took on the challenging song of “Like I’m Gonna Lose You”, originally sung by Meghan Trainor.

Best Overall: Taylor and Michael

Taylor and Michael brought the house down with their stunning vocals in a duet version of “Lay Me Down”, originally sung by Sam Smith. Their voices filled House of Blues in a harmonious perfect blend.

Disney Housing Professional Interns finale: Brandon, Brooke, Caroline, Colin, Jarrett, Jonathan, Kassie and Victoria

I am going to take this opportunity to plug our Disney Housing Professional Interns dance, considering, well, I am one of the interns. Every Night of Stars event, the Disney Housing Professional Interns create a themed dance to entertain the audience while the judges are sending in their final scores. This year, we came up with a spooktacular idea of making our dance an introduction to this year’s Winter Formal: A Haunted Soirée. After just ten hours total of rehearsals, we came up with a dance to die for in the style of the happy haunts from Magic Kingdom Park’s Haunted Mansion. As a first-time performer on the House of Blues stage, it gave me great perspective of the exhilarating feeling of being a part of this signature event.

As they say in Wishes nighttime spectacular, “When stars are born, they possess a gift or two.” We are truly grateful to have had many stars share their true gifts of talent with us at Night of Stars!
