New year, new Program Guide: Important spring updates

New Year, new Program Guide! Whether you are just arriving for your spring program, or you have been making magic for quite a bit, we have some important updates regarding your Program Guide. In order to set you up for success on your Disney Program, we have highlighted our major changes, as well as some good reminders!

Major Program Guide updates

Alcohol policy – One of the biggest changes that has been implemented with the New Year is that apartments are no longer designated by alcohol-permitted and alcohol-prohibited. Program participants who are 21 years of age or older are free to own and consume alcohol within their apartment, regardless of if they have roommates who are under the age of 21.

Per page 20 of your Program Guide, Florida Law prohibits a person less than 21 years of age to attempt to purchase, possess, consume, or transport alcohol. It is unlawful for any person 21 years of age or older to furnish or sell alcohol to any person less than 21 years of age.

Community and visitor policiesWhile our quiet hours of 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. have not changed, our policy regarding Non-Program Visitors has. Non-Program Visitors are now free to visit any Housing property until 2 a.m., as opposed to 1 a.m. Regarding a Program Participant visiting another Housing property, the rule remains unchanged and they should not be in any apartment or visiting any Housing property that is not their own during quiet hours.

Great Program Guide reminders

Receiving packages and address information – Each Housing Property has a unique address for your apartment. Your exact address should be on the back of your Program Guide, but there is also a full directory of addresses in the last pages. You should always make sure that your address is correct so that your package can make it to you safe and sound. If you receive a package through the United States Postal Service or Amazon Prime, you will pick up your package at the Disney Service Center located at your Housing property. UPS, LaserShip and FedEx will be delivered directly to your door!

InspectionsYou should always make sure your apartment is show ready. You can find detailed information on what you can expect during inspections, as well as tips on how to prepare within your Program Guide. A great way to stay prepared is to create a cleaning schedule with your roommates and keep up with your apartment throughout your program!

Departure information/early departure information – The official departure time from Disney Housing is 11 a.m. on the date of your departure. Always make sure that you leave your apartment just the way that you found it when you moved in. If you have any questions about all of the steps for departure, be sure to check out the checklist within your Program Guide! If you are looking to leave your Disney Program early, we have three different ways that you can go about it: school-related early release, work-approved early release and unapproved early release. We have detailed the process of these within your Program Guide to make it easier for you if you need to change your program date for any reason!

These are only a few of some of the many things your Program Guide has to offer. This is a major resource for you to utilize and reference throughout your Disney journey. Make sure you read through your Program Guide, as there are some additional updates that were not highlighted. If you have any questions about anything or need to reference one of our newly released Program Guides, be sure to stop by the Disney Service Center located at your Housing property!
