If you’ve ever thought about participating in a spring program at Walt Disney World® Resort, well then, get excited! There are lots of sensational events you can be a part of, including our two capstone events of the season: the Night of Stars Talent Competition and Starlit Splash!
This season’s Night of Stars Talent Competition took place on April 17 at the House of Blues at Disney Springs, and boy was it a night we’ll never forget! The star-studded evening began with participants hitting the red carpet to show off their most glamorous looks.
After a quick photo stop, it was time to head inside for the show to begin! With 23 unique acts, there was truly something for everyone to enjoy. From singing and dancing, to sleight-of-hand and sign-language interpretation, there was no shortage of jaw-dropping talent.
Distinguished judges from across The Walt Disney Company took audience engagement into account as they scored each performance, and our Disney Internships and Programs participants certainly brought the applause!
The winners for the evening were:
Best Dance: Frances and Mikael
Frances and Mikael wowed the crowd with their explosive energy and technical skill.
Best Vocalist: Jose
Singing “Proud of your Boy”, we sure were proud of Jose’s vocal ability.
Best Specialty Act: George and Shona
George and Shona’s rap/vocal act definitely impressed our Night of Stars audience!
Best Instrumental: Ariel
Ariel performed an original song while playing a sweet tune on her ukulele.
Best Overall: Stephanie
Stephanie’s parody version of “Part of your World” was full of wit and had everyone in the building doubling over with laughter!
After Night of Stars, it was time to get ready for Starlit Splash on May 3! This particular event is unique to the spring season and is one participants especially look forward. Why, you may ask? Disney Internships and Programs takes over Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park exclusively for programs participants! This year’s event was especially exciting as it was the first year it was given a glow theme.
Participants enjoyed a night of waterslides, delicious food, a rockin’ DJ and lots of glow-tastic fun! Throughout the evening, there were also special entertainment surprises such as illuminating entertainers and “Glow in the Sky” fireworks!
So, if you’re thinking of doing a spring program, be sure to get your red carpet ensemble and favorite swim suit ready. With these two capstone events and so many other events to look forward to, there are lots of ways to make your program one you’ll never forget!
