If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words is a moving picture worth? There’s a reason why Disney films are such an important part of the company’s legacy. Woven within the beautiful animation, catchy songs and exciting storytelling is a message that resonates with audiences, often regardless of age! You may forget song lyrics or character quotes, but you can always go back and remember the heart of the film.

As a 90’s kid, I’m partial to some of the great animated films that dominated that decadeWhile I’ve seen all of these films numerous times, sometimes when I need some inspiration or wisdom, I re-watch one of these favorites. Your Disney Program will have its challenges, and it may be nice to hear the familiar voice of a beloved Disney character reminding you that the obstacles you face will always lead to a happy ending in their own way!

Lucky for us, some of these amazing stories are even coming back to theatres in a new way (I can’t wait for “The Lion King” and “Mulan”)! While we wait for the re-telling of these stories, grab your popcorn and remote and let your mind soak in the wise words of these Disney classics:

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of them all.”

Whether it’s in the living, learning or earning portion or your program – you will face a challenge! While it may not be as intense as defeating an invading army, you will experience moments that may intimidate you or cause you to get out of your comfort zone. Take a note from Mulan and rise to the occasion! Regardless of what obstacles you are facing, if you are persistent and have courage you can solve any challenge that comes your way. Plus, you’ll have a group of Cast Members behind you supporting you on the journey!

Beauty and the Beast

“Here’s where she meets Prince Charming, but she won’t discover that it’s him ’til chapter three!”

You’ve likely heard of the phrase “never judge a book by its cover” and that’s especially true during your program! You may not be placed in your dream role during your program or perhaps you were placed in your least desirable apartment, causing you immediate disappointment or reluctance. Don’t let your initial opinion hold you back! The story of Beauty and the Beast is a great reminder that there’s a lot of magic that can come out of an unexpected situation. Embrace diversity and change during the program, and never judge a person or circumstance because it can end up becoming one of your favorite memories!

“For a true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.”

As a Cast Member you have the power to impact a guest’s experience! With a simple gesture, like a welcoming smile or an inquiring question, you have the chance to make magic for guests, who may have had to jump through their own hurdles to visit Walt Disney World Resort. You don’t need to fit the generic hero mold or have special powers to have an impact, but you do need to have compassion and heart!

“Tell her the truth”

You may know exactly where you want to go within the company and think you have a plan on how to get there! Having dreams and ambitions is a great and there are so many opportunities to look forward to. However, throughout it all just remember to be yourself! Don’t take shortcuts to get to the desired end destination and enjoy the journey! While you may not have a magic lamp at your fingertips, you will have plenty of resources to guide you along the way.

 Happy viewing!
