It is no secret that the Walt Disney World Resort is one of the top vacation destinations in the world. We host thousands of international visitors each year. As a Disney Internships & Programs participant, there is a very strong possibility that you will have the opportunity to interact with international guests each day. It isn’t uncommon to encounter guests whose native language is something other than English.
In the spirit of providing excellent guest service, cast members can take an assessment to earn language symbols (up to five symbols) for their nametag. These symbols allow guests and fellow cast members to quickly identify someone who speaks a specific language.
- Most assessments can be conducted over the phone.
- American Sign Language assessments require a brief in-person test.
- Native speakers of languages other than English do not require an assessment. They simply need to ask their manager to submit a request.
If good conversational ability is demonstrated during the assessment, especially in the area of guest service, a new nametag will be ordered. The process takes approximately two weeks.
