High Praise Awarded to the Cast of the Spring 2013 Night of Stars Talent Competition

Twice each year, hundreds of hopefuls audition for a chance to perform in the Night of Stars Talent Competition – a dazzling showcase of talent that unfolds in the Premiere Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Of those who auditioned, 19 acts, comprised of singers, dancers, instrumentalists and specialty acts, were selected to perform in the April 9th show.

The event started bright and early, with a full technical rehearsal in the venue. Performers were given an opportunity to get comfortable with the stage, and production elements (lighting/sound), as well as the timing of the overall effort. Following the technical rehearsal, a full dress rehearsal was held, to ensure all the moving pieces and parts gelled well together.

By mid-afternoon, the performers hit the red carpet, anxious to perform their respective acts in front of an audience. And the audience was extraordinary – nearly 700 Disney Internships and Programs participants attended, resulting in a “full” house. 2013/2014 Disney Ambassadors, Tye Arnold and Rich Tamayo, acted as hosts with the most.

From beginning to end, the event boasted serious star power, giving the 12-person judges panel a difficult task – to award top honors. Here are the results from the grand eve.

Best Overall: Pete B.

Pete danced his way into the audience’s heart with a mash-up performance that featured various dance styles set to trending songs. Hailing from Louisiana, Pete works as a character performer with the Entertainment team.

Best Instrumental: Amy G.

Making the recreation team at Disney’s Contemporary Resort proud, Amy performed her take on the pop hit, “Titanium”. As an added twist, she accompanied herself on the ukulele.

Best Singer: Kaitlyn B.

Kaitlyn performed an original selection, “Sweet Addition”, and warmed the hearts of all who listened in. By day, she supports the quick-service food and beverage team at the Magic Kingdom Park.

Best Dance: Karys J., Megan B., Nicholas L., Oscar F.

This dynamic group of dancers who all support entertainment at the Walt Disney World Resort impressed everyone with their “Thriller”-inspired number. Each performer also designed a unique costume to support the act.

Best Specialty: Olivia L.

Olivia made twirling three batons look like child’s play during her truly incredible act. On any given day, she supports the attractions team at the Magic Kingdom Park.

High praise and congratulations to all who performed – you were fantastic, and we’ll continue to cheer you on!
