On a Disney Program, you’ll never be short of magical memories. I’m a big advocate of documenting these little details that made your experience, once-in-a-lifetime. Whether it’s scrapbooking, taking photos, or journaling, there’s no wrong way to document your program.

One of my favorite things I did on my Disney College Program was writing down inside jokes and new adventures on pieces of paper and putting them on our bulletin board. This wasn’t exactly the most crafty way to reminisce, but it worked! Today, I’m going to teach you how to make a DIY memory jar themed after your favorite Disney character. Rapunzel is passionate, silly, and my personal favorite so I themed mine after the lost princess. The options are limitless! Check out the tutorial below…

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Mason Jar
  • Colored pieces of paper
  • Sharpie/pen
  • Glue/Tape
  • Hole Punch
  • Extra Decorations if desired (Ribbon, Flowers, etc…)
  • Superglue

Here’s how to make it:

1: Use scissors to cut the paper into strips. If you want to theme the jar from a movie or character, choose colors from their color scheme. Set these strips aside to write your memories on later.

2: Trace the inner section of the Mason jar lid on a single piece of paper. Glue the circle to the top of the inner section. Don’t worry if the edges get wrinkled, it will be covered when you attach the outer section of the lid.

3:  Now comes the fun part…decorating! I chose to create a Rapunzel-inspired braid with my yellow ribbon. Tie the ribbon around your jar and use superglue to secure it in place. Flower gleam and “glue” your blossoms to the ribbon. Use superglue to add those finishing touches to the braid.

4:  Create a label for your jar and use a hole punch to feed a ribbon through. Tie or glue the ribbon in place to hang your tag for all of your roommates to see!

And with that, your memory jar is complete! Leave your colored pieces of paper next to the jar along with a pen. Write down your favorite moments and add them to the pile as your program progresses. At the end of your magical season on a Disney Program, read through and reminisce on all of your exciting adventures.

Now go, live your dream!
