Adding personality and pizazz to your Disney Housing apartment

Gaston may use antlers in all of his decorating, but here in Disney Housing, we let you get a little more creative than that!

Our recently updated Community Codes allow for participants to add their own touches of home as well as their personalities to their Housing space. Most Disney Housing apartments include a bulletin board for participants to personalize. The most common use of this board is for displaying our monthly newsletter, The Communicator, which has a calendar page that includes the entire schedule of the month’s events, but we’ve also seen participants use this space to hang photos and other memories from their program.

Another way participants can personalize their wall space is by decorating with 3M Command strips or hooks. No other wall adhesives such as sticky tack, tape, glue or stickers are allowed. Nails and tacks are also not permitted for hanging or placing items. When using 3M Command strips, participants are still responsible for any extra damage, so it is important to follow the instructions carefully. All housing decorating guidelines are listed within the Community Codes found in a participant’s Program Guide.

Believe it or not, there are even more great ways to decorate your space! Here are some Pinterest-worthy ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

Your refrigerator is a great place for group creativity. Look for fun magnets and message boards to coordinate fun get-togethers throughout your program.

If you’re at all like Mary Poppins and need a special bag, use a Command hook for placing it in a convenient location.

Look for picture pockets or lightweight photo displays for showing off your life events, friends and family. Quote boxes and posters are also a great way to gather inspiration as you pursue new adventures.

Accessorize with whozits and whatzits galore with items such as standing frames, fake tea lights, shadow boxes, lamps or Disney collectibles.

Channel your inner-Rapunzel and exercise your artistic abilities by painting your own canvases. If you’re an avid reader like Belle, create your own cozy reading spot with a fun fold-out chair.

For those traveling from afar, we understand your suitcase can only hold so much. To help you out, Disney Housing’s marketplace, The Grid at The Commons, has partnered with College-Ave. If you order through this website,, your apartment items can be delivered to your housing location before your time of move-in. College-Ave offers a wide selection of items including apartment décor.

Home is where the heart is, so add your own heart and creativity into your living space!
