Bonding and buffets: Family-style dining with your Disney family

  • 'Ohana

Sharing a meal has always been an event with my family. It’s a time for us to share stories, laugh about the cat trying to get on the table again, try my mom’s latest recipe, and enjoy each other’s company. I’ve always been a big fan of getting a group together and sharing a meal, a conversation and an experience. When you’re thousands of miles away from your family, your Disney Housing roommates become your family away from home! Sharing a meal is a great way to spend time with the friends that have become so near and dear to your heart. Here are a few places to share a meal, a conversation and an experience!

Let’s start with the most important meal of the day: breakfast! If you’re craving classic, American comfort food breakfast, and a 40 percent off cast member discount, Trail’s End at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campgrounds is the place to go. Make sure you show up hungry because it’s a buffet! Enjoy Mickey waffles, biscuits and sausage gravy, cheese grits, a specialty country pork dish and more. There’s lots to try, and plenty of seating at the tables to share a conversation or a dish!

Sharing a table, a meal and character hugs is another great way to make memories. The Garden Grill in Epcot is a great place for you and your roommates to enjoy a 40 percent discount for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Plus, this delicious Harvest feast has fruits and vegetables that are grown in the Living with the Land green houses. It’s a farm-fresh meal filled with friends!

Take a Polynesian adventure with your Disney ‘ohana to ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Similar to Garden Grill, the waiters bring a large plate out and people grab what they want and put it on their plate. It’s a great place for a family style meal and to meet a few of your favorite characters like Lilo and Stitch. I’m also a big fan of their pineapple coconut breakfast bread, and the fact that Cast Members get an additional 20 percent off.

Take a ride on the wild side, and try out Boma’s dinner buffet! There are many cuisines from over 50 African countries. Boma is nestled in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and has an African marketplace theme throughout. You can watch the chefs cook up the African cuisines on stage right before your eyes! This is a great place to try something out of the ordinary. Plus, what a great friendship experience to try things you haven’t tried before! #bonding

The last place I want to mention is quite the crowd pleaser. Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Pioneer Hall! Grab your friends for a rip roaring good time with a wacky wild-west show and enjoy buckets (yes, buckets) of southern cookin’. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might laugh so hard that you cry. Pioneer Hall and Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue get revamped for the Christmas season too. It’s a place that’s perfect for memory making year round. There’s even a 50 percent off cast member discount for the 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. show times every day!

X-Mas Fort Wilderness

There’s a lot of memories to be made here at Walt Disney World Resort. It’s nice to treat yourself every once in a while, especially with friends that have become family. Make a reservation today! Share a table, a conversation and an experience, and keep making memories to last a lifetime.
