Application / Interview Process

  1. Explore the Disney College Program website
    • The Disney College Program is a unique experience, and therefore we strongly recommend exploring our website in detail prior to submitting an application.
  2. Complete the online Application
    • Tell us about your past experience and education, as well as your roles of interest by completing our application.
    • During this process you will need to indicate whether you would like to be considered for a position at the Disneyland Resort (in California), the Walt Disney World Resort (in Florida), or both.
    • It is not necessary to submit a résumé and cover letter as these are not used to consider candidates for the program. The only information we need is requested on the application form.
  3. Interview
    • Based on the information provided in your application, you may be invited to complete a Web-based interview.
    • This request may come at any point following application submission. The timing of the request will vary from candidate to candidate.
    • Not all candidates will be asked to interview. Candidates not selected to interview will be informed of this decision as soon as it is made.  They will receive communication indicating they are no longer in consideration.
    • The Web-based interview takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.
    • Notification of Web-based interview results will be provided immediately upon the conclusion of the Web-based interview.
    • Based on your Web-based interview results, you may be invited to complete a telephone interview with a recruitment representative.
  4. Notification of Final Status
    • Students receive status updates throughout the application and interview process through email and on their candidate dashboards. We recommend that candidates periodically log in to their dashboard to look for updates and messages from us regarding their status.
    • Please be patient as your application is being considered for acceptance into the program.

Students who have not yet graduated from high school but have dual enrollment with a college are not eligible to participate in the Disney College Program until they have graduated high school and have subsequently completed a full semester of college enrollment.
We offer a limited summer-only program for former Disney College Program participants who meet certain eligibility requirements.

We do not summer-only opportunity for first time applicants.

It is not necessary to submit a cover letter or Resume/CV to apply for the Disney College Program.

All information needed from an applicant is collected on the application.

Students cannot apply or interview twice during the same semester.
Not at all. Although we are sorry it won’t work for them at this time, they are free to apply again during the next recruiting season. These students will have to re-apply, and interview again.
Unfortunately, we are unable to conduct walk-in interviews at the Casting Centers in Florida and California. We encourage candidates to submit an application online to begin the process.

Notification

This will vary from student to student.

After a student submits an application, they will receive information which will indicate the latest possible date in which a final decision may be made.  A request to begin the interview process or notification that they are no longer being considered can come at any time.

Following the Web-based interview, a student may be asked to schedule a telephone interview or informed that they are no longer being considered.  Some students may also receive communication which indicates they will receive information on their next steps at a later date.

Following the telephone interview, a student will be reminded of the latest possible date in which a final decision will be made.

Although final decisions may be made throughout the recruiting season, they are not necessarily done in the order in which a telephone interview is completed.  In other words, some candidates who interview early in the recruiting season may receive their final status update after candidates who interview after them.  Decisions are not made on a first-come, first-served basis.

We recommend that candidates periodically log in to their dashboard to look for updates and messages from us regarding their status.

Notification of each candidate’s status will be sent through email to the email address provided on the candidate’s application form. In addition, all email communication sent to candidates can be viewed by visiting their dashboard.

We encourage candidates to visit their dashboard regularly to ensure they do not miss any communication.

Education

It is up to each student’s school to determine how financial aid is handled if a student chooses to participate in the Disney College Program. Students should consult with their faculty advisor and Career Services, Financial Aid and the Admissions departments at their school to gain information about the available options.
Recognition means you are not receiving credit from your school or institution; however, your school will allow you to attend without taking you off its enrollment list.

Credit means your school has agreed to award school credit for your internship.

Participants on the Disney College Program at the Disneyland Resort are required to take the educational component of the program.

Participants at the Walt Disney World Resort are not required to take the Disney College Program Education Courses while on the program. A participant’s school may require them to take a course, which is why it is critical for you to talk with your academic advisor first. Participants are welcome to sign up for a class even if they are not receiving credit (note: participants who are receiving credit will have priority over those who are not).

There are no tuition fees for the Disney College Program Education Course. However, participants will be responsible for purchasing textbooks or course materials.

If your school is awarding credit for these courses, your school may charge you for the credits.

Working

Participants work a various locations across Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.  This includes theme parks, water parks, resort hotels, and other entertainment venues.

When a student is offered a position on the Disney College Program, this will include information on the role they are offered (ex. “merchandise”).  Students will find out their exact work location as part of the on-boarding process during arrival or during training (ex. “The Emporium” at Magic Kingdom park or “World of Disney” at Disney Springs).

Once you accept the role that has been reserved for you, you make a commitment to that position for the duration of your program.

It is extremely important during the application and telephone interview to only express interest in roles which truly interest you.

Your work schedule and days off will vary from week to week and will also vary depending on the time of year and your specific work location. Your days off will typically be on weekdays and may or may not be consecutive.

Housing

Information about our housing options can be found here.
At Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, bus transportation is provided to and from work and apartment locations for all participants. However, if participants have a car, they are strongly encouraged to bring one.

At Disneyland Resort in California, transportation is not provided and participants are highly encouraged to bring their own vehicle. Public transportation is a viable option and is typically a quick and convenient ride to the resort, however it may not always coincide exactly with participants’ work schedules. Students choosing to use public transportation will accrue $1 per day and a free bus pass as part of the Disneyland Resort’s Commuter Assistance Program.
