DORMS: Housing Pre-Registration Process for Walt Disney World Participants

It is certainly no secret that the living experience is a critical component to our participants’ overall experience on the program and no doubt, an extraordinary one as well.

Therefore, it is our primary goal when placing participants in their housing assignment to meet individual needs and preferences based on information provided to us by participants prior to their arrival.

Approximately 10 days prior to arrival, all Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program, and Disney International Programs participants at the Walt Disney World Resort will receive an email message with information on accessing DORMS (Disney Onsite Resident Management System), our housing pre-registration site.

Be sure to add disney.housing.no-reply@disneyparks.com to your address book to ensure delivery of your invitation to pre-register.

Within DORMS, participants may be able to indicate preferences for:

  • Apartment Community (apartment complex)
  • Unit size
  • Name(s) and roommate number(s) of individuals with whom they would like to live
We will do our best to accommodate all preferences, but we cannot guarantee any specific placement requests.
How We Assign Apartments & Roommates

Participants who request to live in the same apartment must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be in pre-registration status (received DORMS pre-registration email with Roommate ID)
  • Share the same departure date
  • Same Gender
  • All occupants over / under the age of 21*
Participants living in our housing complexes who are under the age of 21 upon arrival will automatically be placed in an Alcohol Prohibited apartment (no alcohol permitted at any time).

Participants who are over the age of 21 and wish to live in an Alcohol Prohibited apartment may request this during the housing pre-registration process; this exception requires the participant to sign a form acknowledging that no alcohol is allowed in the unit.

Because participants will now arrive with their Housing paperwork and will already have an apartment assignment, upon arrival participants will immediately pick up their keys and begin the move in process.

  • Participants are no longer asked during check-in for their apartment complex and unit size preferences since this information is collected in DORMS prior to arrival.
  • In order to request to reside with multiple people in a single apartment unit, it is not necessary to check-in together
  • Those choosing to line up at 7am will have no advantage over anyone arriving later in the day in regards to obtaining an apartment or roommate of choice. Everyone has an equal opportunity to indicate their preferences prior to arrival in DORMS.
Participants who did not complete the pre-registration process will not be placed pre-arrival and will be processed in a ‘stand-by’ queue.

Upon arrival they will be asked to log-in, pre-register and print out arrival documents prior to placement. As placement will have already occurred, unit availability will be very limited to those that arrive without pre-registering.

We strongly encourage everyone to participate in Housing pre-registration.

How DORMS Works

Below is a step-by-step guide to the DORMS system complete with screenshots and tips on completing each section.

Logging In

All participants on the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program, and Disney International Programs at the Walt Disney World Resort will receive information via email approximately 10 days prior to their scheduled arrival date.

This email will contain information about DORMS, including the participant’s roommate number and a unique password.  This is not the same password used for the Applicant Dashboard.

Be sure to add disney.housing.no-reply@disneyparks.com to your address book to ensure delivery of your invitation to pre-register.

Upon first log in, one will be prompted to change this password.

Participant Profile Page

Participants will be asked to fill in their permanent postal address which will be used to complete the Housing forms (Community Codes, Payroll Deduction Form, and Alcohol Policy Form (if applicable) in the next section.

They may also indicate if they would like to request ADA Housing, Married/Same Gender Domestic Partnership Housing or, if they are over 21, opt into Alcohol Prohibited housing.

If a participant will be bringing a vehicle, they will be asked to provide additional information regarding their car so that a parking sticker can be issued to them during check-in.  Participants must bring their current vehicle registration, proof of insurance in their name, and a U.S. driver’s license to check-in to receive a parking sticker.

Vehicle Decal Agreement

Those who indicated they were bringing their own vehicle on the previous screen will be prompted to complete the Vehicle Decal Agreement.  Anyone who is not bringing their own vehicle will continue to the forms pages.

The information collected on this agreement is used to populate a printable copy of the form in a later step.

Forms Pages

This area is dedicated to completing Housing paperwork:

  • Community Codes Form
These are the rules and regulations that all residents of Vista Way, The Commons, Chatham Square, and Patterson Court must abide by.
  • Payroll Form
This form authorizes the weekly payroll deduction for the weekly housing fee
  • Alcohol Policy Form
This form is an acknowledgment of the rules and regulations of living in an Alcohol Prohibited apartment.

    • This form will be required of all participants living in our housing complexes who are under the age of 21 upon arrival.
    •  Any participant over the age of 21 who indicated a desire to live in an Alcohol Prohibited apartment on their Participant Profile Page will be required to complete this form in DORMS.
  • Vehicle Agreement Form
Printable version of the form completed on the previous screen.  Necessary to register a vehicle with the Disney Housing Team and to obtain a parking sticker.

    • Participants who are not bringing a vehicle will not be asked for this form.

Roommate Preferences

Here one may indicate that they wish to be randomly assigned to roommates or they may be able to submit a request to reside with specific individuals.  Please keep in mind the number of roommates that may be available to link to will range from 0-7 depending on the arrival date and available inventory.  The number of roommate links available for the specific arrival date will be communicated in the initial pre-registration email as well as on this screen.

If you are choosing to select roommates, please select one person in your group to login and register for housing first. This person will need to know each person(s) roommate number (found in their registration email) as well as the complex and unit size preferences.

Once the first person logs in and registers for housing, each linked person will receive a confirmation email to login and either complete their own registration by accepting the roommate match and housing preferences or break the match and reset their housing preferences.

If someone selects to break the match, they will not be able to link to that same person(s) again. However, they will be able to link to other eligible participants from their arrival date.

All persons will need to complete the registration process after the first person registers in order to confirm the match and obtain the required onboarding paperwork for their housing arrival.

Although we do our best to accommodate all preferences, we cannot guarantee any specific placement requests.

Housing Preferences

Incoming participants may indicate their preferences for apartment complex and unit size by rearranging a listing of all complexes/units available for their arrival date.

Please note if an apartment complex and/or unit is not listed on your screen, that indicates that it isn’t an option for your arrival date.  Only available options will be available for ranking.

If “I want to specify my housing preferences” is checked, a listing of the available apartments will be presented.  The incoming participant may rearrange these options in order of their preference with the top most listed option being their top preference and the bottom option being their last preference.

Although we do our best to accommodate all preferences, we cannot guarantee any specific placement requests.

3 Person Bedroom

3 Person Bedroom

Two Person Bedroom

2 Person Bedroom

Onboarding Pass for Check-in

Upon submission, a participant will be presented with an onboarding pass.  They should print this onboarding pass and all of the forms to bring with them to check-in.

Changing Pre-Registration Preferences

For 72 hours, one may return to DORMS and revise any of the information they provided during the pre-registration process.  This includes changing any provided vehicle information, or apartment complex/unit size preferences.

One may also break matches to specific roommates.  Please keep in mind if a match is broken, they will not be able to link to that person again.

Shortly before an arrival day, the Disney Housing team will lock the system and no additional revisions can be made.  However, one may still return to DORMS to print their onboarding pass and forms.

I hope this overview of the pre-registration process has been helpful and answered questions you may have had.  All of us are looking forward to welcoming all future participants to one of our apartment complexes!

Quick question! I am bringing my car down there and it says to give a tag number but i am supposed to be getting a new tag but wont have the new number when i fill out that information. How will i go about giving them a new tag number if i can’t go back in there and change it after 72 hours?

Ihave a question about the roommate section of DORMS. I have 5 roommates (so 6 total). I have noticed in the past there has been issues with people trying to put in the roommate info and there not being enough slots to enter in all of their roommates’ info. Has that issue been solved? I’m really worried that I won’t be able to room with all my awesome roommates. Sorry if this sounded confusing and thanks!

OKAY, so now that the departure date has been changed, does that mean the the roommates I had picked out since March I can no longer room with since we don’t all share the same departure date? If so than this is not happy news, but VERY upsetting for me, my roommates, and everyone else who had their roommates picked out months in advance who now have to search for new roommates.

Hello, I am already a Florida resident. I know the start date to pre-register for on-site housing preferences is 10 days prior to check-in but What is the deadline to opt out of on-site housing? On the flip side, what is the absolute deadline to register for housing preferences if I do decide to remain living on-site? Thanks so much for your time!

Hello! My roommates have received the DORMS email and we’re ready to get it filled out, however how would we go about adding someone who arrives later?

As of right now, I have 4 other roommates: 3 have the same arrival date as me (August 4th) and the other arrives later (August 11)

Is it possible to add her onto the Roommate requests later or do we have to wait until she receives her Roommate number to complete DORMS?

    Thank you!

Hello I had a question as rooming with people with different arrival dates. Will I be able to room with girls who arrive Sept. 8th when the majority of us arrive Aug. 4th? How will we all connect if they haven’t received their DORMS password and Aug. 4th arrivals have a due date for pre-registration? Thank you!

I have a question about possibly rooming with someone who is already a participant in the program. In their apartment, someone has left, therefore there is an open space for another person. Because my friend had a May arrival date and I have a September arrival date, we originally couldn’t be roommates, but we have the same departure date. Would it be possible to put my friend’s apartment and her roommates as preferred roommates even though they are not in the pre-registration process?

    Thank you!

    My question is about married-housing!
I have read online that as long as I show proof of being married that I can request to live with my husband. Is this correct?
Does it matter if my husband will not be participating in the College Program?
    Thank you for your help!

Hi I was wondering about roommate selection. Does roommate selection or apartment size and location take precedence in housing selection? My friend and I want to room together. Will we be placed together even if our top choices for apartment size and location are unavailable? Or will be separated? We don’t want to be separated if we are unable to get the apartment size we wanted.
    Thank You!!

Thank you for all your help with the housing questions!
Both my friend and I from college have been accepted and would love to be roommates. We have also found a few possible roommates and we all have the dates Jan 19-May 15. My friend from college has the dates Jan 26-May 15. Are we able to be roommates since they are technically a week apart? I hope so. If not is there anything she can do to have the same move in date as us.

    Thank you very much,

    Hi Chris!

I have a question regarding participants who are married. I saw above that both people have to be in the program. My fiancé and I both got accepted today, and we are getting married next week. Can we still live together even though we weren’t married when we applied? If we can live together, what steps should we take in order to do so?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Chris,

I accepted an extension for WDW, however, I noticed that we don’t have the same departure dates as the regular Spring program. Does that mean we are limited to picking new flat mates only from others who are extending?

Hi Chris! I sent an email over this to the dcp recruitment team but I think something went wrong with it so I’ll ask you. :) I just received and accepted an offer to be a part of the Disney college program for spring advantage 2015. With this, I know I have around three months to get ready for the program, which is nice because Christmas is between now and then. This brings me to my question. I know I’ve read that dorm furniture is not allowed to be moved unless done so by management. Is there a way to request management to move furniture? I’m taking college classes while in the program and would love to replace the normal twin bed with a twin loft bed so I may use the desk underneath for isolated studying. I would place it in the same place as the other bed and take advantage of the air space not used. Would this present a problem or is it even allowed? I ask now because my parents have offered to get one for me for Christmas and would like to know before they spend the money.
    Thanks for your time,
    Katie M.

    Hi Chris,

Is there wireless internet and all we have to do is ask for a password? Do we need to buy a router? What’s the internet situation look like?

    Thank you

    Hey Chris
My name is Amy. As I understand it, married couples who are participating in the DCP can room together. What about a regular couple? No marriage status, but are just dating, and would like to live together. My boyfriend of 4 years and I are very interested in the DCP and have different departments of work in mind. But I’m curious about housing wise.

    Hi Chris,

I just had a quick question regarding roommate matching. My friend and I are both accepted and have the same arrival date. However, he is Spring and I am Spring Advantage. Ideally, he would extend and be there the same amount of time as me, however that’s obviously not a guaranteed situation. So, my question is if we will be able to link up if we are on separate types of programs?

    Hi Chris,
I got into Disney College Program in California. And I did not choose to live in Disney housing. But when I try to enroll in a class today. They require me to log into my DORMS account. And I don’t have a DORMS account, so how can I register for the class?Thank you so much!

    Hi Chris,

I was accepted into Spring Advantage 2015 and have found three roomates. We all agree that our first choice would be a 2 bedroom 4 person apartment at Chaham Square, however, the apartment pricing list only shows a 2 bedroom 6 person apartment. Are 2 bedroom 4 person apartments available at Chatham Square?

Hello! I have a question… I want to apply for the Cultural Representative Program and I am not American. Is mandatory to live in the housing? or you can live outside Disney complex and do the program? Thanks so much!

  20. Iselin J 21 November 2014 at 6:47 pm #

Hello! I was wondering if there is any way to specify (if I end up in a 3-person room) what bed I’ll have? I have a massive fear of sleeping so high up, and this has had me worried ever since I heard about the bunk-beds. Thank you so much!

  21. Alexis W 3 December 2014 at 7:18 pm #

Hi, my name is Alexis. I had two questions, first when i signed up for my departure date it told me i would be staying in vista way however i do not want to live in vista way. Second is my family allowed to come visit me on my days off if they are in town, and are they allowed to help me move in when I come in January?

I was accepted for Spring Advantage 2015 and have already found five roommates (six of us total).
Recently we heard rumor from current CPs that the washer and dryer units were being removed from the Commons. Some people living there have confirmed these rumors while others have dismissed them. I wanted to find out a definite answer, as one of my roommates has a bad back and we want to be able to make arrangements ahead of time to accommodate her! The presence of the washer and dryer units is our primary reason for selecting the commons so the news worried us.

    Thank you for your answer!

  23. Christa S 19 December 2014 at 12:02 am #

    Hi Chris!

I’m sure you’ve answered this already, but I want to clear. This girl and I arrive on the same day (Jan 19), but we leave on different days (June 5th and June 15th). Can we still link?

    Thanks in advance!

  24. Pietro G 30 December 2014 at 11:33 am #

    Hi Chris,

I will participate to the Cultural Representative Program. Is it possible to link ourselves to other roommates with the same nationality? I mean is there a limit in terms of number of people with the same nationality per apartment?

    Thank you for your answer!

  25. Asaan J 30 December 2014 at 4:56 pm #

I tried calling recruiting but the office is closed for the holidays, any tips or help for competing dorms if your departure date wasn’t update in the system to finish DORMS before the deadline on Jan 2?

  26. Jessa C 30 December 2014 at 11:29 pm #

Hi! I am in the culinary program on February 2015. I have a couple question about the housing. The first one is how do we choose who to room with? DO we have to know the people personally or is there a website to where we can communicate with following participant? Second, for instance if I choose to just want 1 to 3 roommates for personal reasons what is the possibility that would happen?

    Thank You in Advance

I start the college program on Jan 19th and my boyfriend has already made reservations at the Old Key West Resort to visit me for Valentine’s Day weekend. I am aware that overnight guests are prohibited in our housing, but would I be allowed to stay with him in the resort he reserved? Also, how do I request days off from work so that I could possibly spend as much time with him as possible while he’s visiting?

Please and thank you for your help!

Hi!! I have a question, I’m going to the CRP 2015-2016, I had an arrival date february 24 and a departure date february 19 (2016), a few weeks ago my arrival date changed to march 3 but my departure date stayed the same, my question is, if I want to choose a roomate do we have to have the same arrival and/or departure date? Thank you very much!

  29. Madison C 15 January 2015 at 12:57 am #

My arrival date is only 4 days away and I still have not arrived any email for pre-registration. Is that normal?

  30. Jasmine C 29 January 2015 at 9:37 am #

    Hi Chris!

Quick question, My potential roommate has the same arrival/department date as I do. She just received her new hire forms yesterday. I received my DORMS info on Tuesday and it’s due in Friday. Do you think she will receive her DORMS info by then? I would like to link up with her. Thanks!

    Hey Chris!
Quick question. I just applied for Fall 2015. When should I apply for housing? Also, could you tell me the modes of transportation available, assuming I won’t have a car by then? Thanks!

  32. Elena A 7 February 2015 at 3:05 am #

I was wondering how do I find the pricing of the apartment dorms?

  33. Amanda A 21 February 2015 at 9:20 pm #

I was recently accepted to DCP for fall advantage 2015. I was told to send an email to the following address in order to inquire about adapted housing due to disabilities.

Whenever I send an email to this address, I get an error message saying the email delivery failed and that this is an invalid address. How can I get in touch with someone about this?

  34. Becca W 23 February 2015 at 10:33 am #

Hi. If my arrival date is 8/31 can I room with someone who arrives 8/24?

  35. Anthony D 23 February 2015 at 7:33 pm #

Does Fall Advantage offer housing? I keep getting the answers they do and they don’t, if you could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it!
